vr-3(U) Integrated USB Biometric Smartcard Terminal Released
VeriTouch Ltd. (U.S.A.) today announced the release of its revolutionary vr-3 (U) Biometric Smartcard Terminal. Incorporating the worlds first Universal Serial Bus (USB) Smartcard reader and Infineon Technologies FingerTIP sensor in USB configuration, the vr-3 (U) has the smallest footprint of any biometric terminal in the world combined with breakthrough ease of use and installation features. The device allows for the rapid enrollment of users fingerprint minutiae data onto a 1K EEPROM Smartcard incorporating the advanced Infineon Technologies SLE 4428 IC chip.
Online Banks, Virtual Merchants, and Healthcare Information Providers may remotely provide services in a vaulted communications channel on the Internet by employing the vr-3 (U) and Smartcard to verify the identity of their Customers and Patients.
vr-3 (U) breaks new ground by incorporating advanced intelligent onboard controls via the devices USB microcontroller, allowing the user to receive upgrades to the system via The Internet while connected to Virtual Banking, Healthcare Information Providers, and Virtual Merchants. The vr-3 (U) has been developed as the worlds first consumer friendly biometric smartcard terminal, allowing for easy installation in minutes with a single USB connection and automatically loading drivers for Windows 98 and Windows 2000.
